Building a Fly Box

Got a good idea from Noleflyfisher on bigbendfishing.net for making a large flybox to store flies at home.

Materials needed:
– A pack of foam sticker sheets (They can be found a Michaels)

– A clear plastic scrapbook holder (They can be found a Michaels)

– Optional foam “marshmallows” (They can be found a Michaels)

– Crazy glue if you choose to use the optional foam “marshmallows”

Building the box:

– Open the scrapbook holder and the foam sheets.

– Place the foam sheets in the bottom of the scrapbook holder, on the sides and inside the lid. The choice is up to you.

– You can glue the optional “marshmallow” on top of the foam sheets. I found these useful for storing small flies.

– You can also slice the “marshmallows” in half and glue the halves on top of the foam sheets. I found this useful for storing large flies.
That’s it, you can have a large fly box for under $20 skins.

Some photo’s of the finished product.

Along the same lines as the scrapbook fly box you can build a nice box for the boat or travel.

Materials Needed:

– A Plano 3721 – one single compartment box

– A sheet of Ripple Boat Patch (Dimensions: 12″ x 15″)

Building the box:

– Trim the Ripple patch to fit the box
– Place the Ripple patch on the floor of the box

An option to this would be to use the foam sheets from Michaels.  Either way you will have a nice large box to transport flies to the water.  I have not built this one yet, but I will soon and post some pictures of the finished product
